This is a romantic comedy that has a funny and complicated twist at the end.
Meryl Streep stars as Jane Adler, a restaurant-owner, mother of three, and ex-wife of Jake Adler, played by Alec Baldwin. Jake cheated on Jane and left her for a younger girl called Agness.
After ten years of divorce Jake and Jane get together for their son’s graduation celebration. After the dinner and a few drinks Jake and Jane went into bed together. Then, they get together a few more times and become the mistress of Jake.
At the same time Jane starts to have a relationship with her architect Adam, played by Steve Martin.
It is a light movie that brings a heavy story in a funny way.
It is funny. The combination of Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin is simply hilarious. Good actors and funny ones. Besides, oldies falling in love is just so cute.
It is unique. The story is so twisted and interesting. Not everyday do you see a divorced couple getting into an affair and failing again.
It has a lesson. We may get a second chance but it doesn’t really guarantee success.
